The Coopman Team Interview: Spotlight on Talent Specialist Kimberly Braganza

Kimberly has joined Coopman Search and Selection as a Talent Specialist. She has a strong knowledge of the recruitment industry having started her career in a Human Resource role. Get to know Kimberly in this spotlight interview covering her experience prior to joining Coopman, her proudest achievement and more.

1. Tell us about your career prior to Coopman.

After I completed my Bachelor’ degree in Economics-Sociology, I decided to take my knowledge of aspects like socioeconomic status and its relation to the distribution of social opportunities and resources and apply the same to gain some practical experience from the Human Resource field. As a Human Resource executive, I was the custodian for the New Hire Onboarding. I moved on to work as an Economic Consultant. The disruptions that the pandemic had caused in the economy emphasised on the importance of economics in how businesses continued to make hard decisions to stay afloat and minimize job losses. And this led me to doing a Master’s in Applied Economics from University College Dublin.

2. Why did you want to join Coopman?

Very briefly, it would be Coopman’s mission and values which is embedded in its growth so far and forecasts. They are committed to holistic growth which traverses into every conversation and interaction, and in my opinion is so important because this helps achieve the bigger goal (both on an individual level and for the company). Coopman is a B-Corp Certified company which speaks volumes in terms of being sustainable, transparent and giving back to the community. This is what I knew before joining the team; now that I am here, I see how invested and forward-thinking they are, and I am honoured to be a part of it!

3. What has been your proudest achievement?

Moving to a new country, completing a Master’s programme and getting a job with Coopman.

4. What is the best piece of advice you ever received?

Before my final interview round with Coopman where I had to deliver a presentation, I was nervous to say the least. What calmed my nerves was a text from my friend which read “You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by trying.” That definitely boosted my confidence and well, here I am today!

5. What are you looking forward to most about working at Coopman?

I’d love a position where I can use my skills to make an impact in the lives of people in a non-transactional way. Being offered a role where I can use my skills and knowledge to make this impact is exhilarating and I look forward to working on it. Of course, the position is only part of the equation. Being at a company where I can grow and work toward something I care about matters, too. Coopman’s goal of taking a consultative approach towards recruitment inspires me, and I’m really excited about this opportunity.

6. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my friends, exploring the city and having a little ‘me time’ towards the end of the day.
